Henry Doorly Zoo

We recently visited the Henry Doorly Zoo in Omaha.  It was a cool day and the animals were very active.  If you ever have the opportunity to visit the zoo, I highly recommend it.

Something New

After reading a couple posts on a forum that I have been browsing to learn more about photography, I found a concept that I wanted to try out.  So I picked up a few things from a camera supply store here in town and set up an area similar to the one in the tutorial.

I did not have any red candles, so I used teal ones.  When I reviewed my first round of pictures, I was overjoyed that I actually pulled it off.  And then when I was reviewing the photos on my computer, I was ecstatic how amazing they looked. Can you see the hints of teal from the candles reflected on the glass pitcher?  Pretty cool!

Lesson 3 (cont.): Close Up Setting

Over the past couple of days I have been trying to find things I could practice with using the "close up" setting.  Since it is December here in Nebraska, most of the pretty flowers are dead.  A few things did catch my eye though.
